Is the Disney dog kennel open?

    Greetings, Robbie!

I am Al, your animal healthcare companion! As a veterinarian, I am happy to hear that you are considering bringing your four-legged friend along with you on your Disney vacation. I love traveling everywhere with my Golden Retriever and I take her wherever I am allowed. Sadly, the Disneyland Kennel Club did not re-open along with the rest of the Parks after the pandemic closure.

That does not mean that you have to leave your pet at home, however. The official Disneyland Resort Hotels are not allowing pets at this time, but I searched and found 15 Good Neighbor Hotels that are Pet Friendly. I called a couple of them for you and found that the Residence Inn at Anaheim Resort/Convention Center and the Clementine Hotel & Suites Anaheim both allow you to leave your pet unattended in the room while enjoying the Parks. They will ask for a pet deposit and there might be a weight limit. If you are unable to leave them unattended, I would recommend googling "doggy day care", "boarding kennel", or "pet sitters" in Anaheim for other options.

Fun Fact: The Disneyland Kennel Club originally opened as the Ken-L Land Pet Motel on January 18, 1958. Attending the opening were Old Yeller's son, Duke, and Kevin Corcoran, who starred in the movie and later went on to become a Disney Legend.

Whether or not you bring your furry friend, consider picking up a souvenir for them! Disney Home and World of Disney often carry pet accessories that are irresistible and super cute! I feed my dog out of a Haunted Mansion bowl that says "Feed Me, Foolish Mortals!"

I hope you found this information helpful, Robbie. If you have more questions before your trip, please feel free to write to us again at planDisney!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
