Since Disney will be discontinuing complimentary Magic Bands for 2021 resort guests, how will tickets for young children without mobile devices be handled. Will we have to pay for magic bands for my two grandsons (ages 4 & 3)?

    Hi there, Linda!

I’m so glad to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Thanks for stopping by with your question!

I have to tell you, you’re probably going to win the Grandparent of the Year award because how does anyone top visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth with their grandparents?! What a magical vacation that will be for your grand-Mouseketeers!

Linda, you’re correct; Disney Resort hotel Guests with an arrival date of January 1, 2021 and beyond will have the option to purchase MagicBands or use the complimentary admission Cards. I do love the convenience of the little magical gadgets; just a quick tap and you’re able to gain entrance into the Theme Parks or your Resort hotel room! Of course, you and your little ones are always welcome to use the complimentary admission cards that come with your tickets. Whenever my family uses the cards, I hang on to them and hand them over to the little ones during our entry time. They love being able to tap in to gain access to all the magic! Once we’ve entered the Parks, I’ll take the cards and keep them with me.

I do want to mention in case you have any previous MagicBands that you’ve assigned to yourselves and the grand-Mouseketeers, those can be reused. Generally, the internal battery on those lasts about 2 to 3 years.

As you prepare for your trip, be sure to check your My Disney Experience account to make sure all the tickets are linked properly to the Guests going. Planning a Walt Disney World Resort trip is part of the fun for me! I bet your grand-Mouseketeers can’t wait to have all the delightful Mickey shaped treats!

Linda, I am sending you and your family all the pixie dust for the most magical vacation!
