Ahoy, Meva! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question. I have a feeling you may already be off enjoying your Disney Cruise Line vacation (lucky you!), so while this reply might be reaching you a little late, I truly hope you’re having a magical time at sea.
If you packed a MagicBand+ from Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort, you can absolutely use it as a
DisneyBand+ onboard your cruise. The important thing to know is that only the MagicBand+ model works on Disney Cruise Line, and older, non-charging MagicBands aren’t able to be used.
Before boarding, the process is pretty simple. Just make sure your MagicBand+ is fully charged and bring the charger along. On embarkation day, a Disney Cruise Line Cast Member at the terminal will activate it for cruise use. Once you’re onboard, the band pairs with your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and links to your stateroom and onboard account. After that, you’re all set to use it to open your stateroom door and make purchases throughout the ship. It’s incredibly convenient!
Some Guests like to keep their Key to the World card handy in a lanyard, but I personally loved wearing my DisneyBand+. It was one less thing to juggle, and it looked really cute, too. Also, your MagicBand+ is waterproof, so it’s totally fine to wear in the pools or over at Disney's private islands. Just make sure it’s on securely. I learned that the hard way… mine is currently living its best life somewhere on the ocean floor near Castaway Cay!
I hope your cruise has been full of wonderful moments, Meva. If you have any questions once you’re back on land, we're always here and happy to help.
Warmly,
Eean
