Ahoy, Shanda!
On your five night cruise, you can expect three nights of
cruise casual attire. According to Disney Cruise Line, this simply means that no tank tops or swimwear is allowed in the dining rooms. On these evenings, shorts are allowed in the dining rooms, so your husband can be comfortable in his khaki shorts. I will also let you know that the dining rooms are usually pretty chilly, so he might want long pants. My husband wears pants and I always have a sweater to wear.
One of the cruise nights will also be an optional dress-up evening. On this night, you will see many of your fellow cruisers dressed to the nines in their ball gowns and tuxedos (my favorite!). You will find that many other passengers are in sundresses and khaki pants with collared shirts.
Your other night will be my favorite,
Pirate Night! This is your chance for your family to get all pirate-d up in their best scurvy scoundrel outfits. Be sure to head up to the "Pirates IN the Caribbean" deck party to dance like pirates and watch the fireworks at sea. I would recommend heading up to the highest deck on the starboard (right) side of the ship for the best fireworks view.
Have a wonderful cruise, and wear what you want, its YOUR vacation!
Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
