We are going on a Disney Cruise on the Magic and my son is going to propose to his girlfriend while on the cruise. Where do you suggest to "pop the question" and is there a professional photographer for engagement pictures on the ship available?

    Hi Brenda!
I can't think of a better place to propose than on a pixie dusted sailing!  Since the ship will be decked out in holiday decor, it will be a perfect backdrop for photos.  You can email Disney Cruise Line at dclfunctionrequests@email.disney.com for information about a private photo session for the newly engaged couple.  The fee is currently $85 (always subject to change) plus the cost of the photos.
I'm envisioning several magical spots for the engagement to take place.  I'm not sure if he wants it to be private or not so I'll give you suggestions for both!
First, the optional "dress-up" night on your sailing is scheduled for Day 2 so it might be fun for them to be all dressed up for the momentous occasion.  The atrium will be dazzling with holiday decor so he could propose next to the three-deck tall Christmas tree or by the bronze statue of Helmsman Mickey.  The lobby is crowded before each dinner seating, but thins out once dinner starts and the shows are underway.  If one of the ship's photographer's is hanging around, he/she could possibly catch the big moment.  If his girlfriend has a favorite character, he could possibly pull off asking her during one of the meet and greet opportunities with the ship's photographer right there to capture the shot.  One of my favorite activities to do at night is to watch the sunset on Deck Four.  This deck has the feel of the old classic oceanliners so it is definitely a romantic place to propose.  If he has a dinner planned for Palo, he could have the waiter bring out the ring at dessert.  There is usually a photographer there as well.  My last idea is to wait until the last day so he can propose on Serenity Bay, the adult-only beach on Castaway Cay.  This tropical paradise would be a very memorable setting!
I'm out of room, Brenda!  I'm headed out on the Magic on Sunday so please write back if I can help you further once I return!
