Ahoy there! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question.
You’re wise to think ahead about
travel documents, especially since September will be here before you can say “Anchors aweigh!” Your passport should be priority number one on your packing list (spoken by someone who once left hers at home… don’t worry, crisis was averted).
For most Disney cruises to the Bahamas, you’ll be just fine as long as your passport is valid through the end of your cruise. The six-month validity rule is more common for international travel to places like Europe, but it doesn’t typically apply to sailings in the Bahamas. I checked with a Disney Cruise Line agent and also confirmed with my friend
Dustin, who’s an expert when it comes to all things Disney Cruise Line, and both gave a thumbs-up. That said, if you’re someone who likes to be extra prepared, it doesn’t hurt to bring along a government-issued birth certificate as well. You can always double-check the most up-to-date
travel documentation requirements on Disney Cruise Line’s official site
A few weeks before your cruise, your Online Check-In window will open; 30 days out for first-time cruisers, and earlier for Silver, Gold, and Platinum
Castaway Club members. You’ll upload your travel documents during that process, and you should also bring the original physical copies with you to the port. And here’s a quick planDisney packing tip: Place your passports, boarding documents, sunscreen, and swimsuits into one carry-on bag so you're ready to go as soon as you step onboard (you’d be surprised how many Guests hit the pool before their staterooms are even ready).
I hope this helps you feel ready to set sail!
“Sea” ya real soon,
Eean
