Whenever I approach the register at a Disney destination, I wait to hear those magic words, "Do you have any discounts with us?" I proudly say I am a Disney Vacation Club member and show the appropriate proof in my mobile wallet, then the Cast Member applies my discount. Annual Passholders and Disney Visa card members are eligible for some discounts, too, and Cast Members are happy to apply discounts for those guests as well. If for some reason you are not asked about discount eligibility when you check out, simply ask the Cast Member if discounts are offered at that location and mention your Disney Visa. According to the
Frequently Asked Questions on the Disney Rewards website you just need to pay with the Disney Visa to get the discount. There's no stipulation that says you must use the physical card.
I'm a big proponent of charging purchases to my hotel room with my MagicBand+, and I occasionally use my mobile wallet, but I always prepare for the worst case scenario. What if I misplace my MagicBand+ at some point during my park day or what if my phone battery dies and I can't find a charger or mobile power bank? I always bring a credit or debit card and my photo identification with me just in case, and I slip them into a zippered pocket in my belt bag. This puts my mind at ease since I know I'll still be able to make purchases and get a frosty adult beverage if I do lose my phone or MagicBand+! I also hear my mom's wise words echoing in my head, as she always tells me "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."
You will be able to enjoy your Disney Visa discount even if you don't have the physical card with you and are using the stored version in your mobile wallet, but I'd probably bring it along just in case. If you're looking to save on dining via
Mobile Order or when using
Merchandise Mobile Checkout at participating locations, just make sure your Disney Visa is stored in the My Disney Experience app. Your discount will be automatically applied to your mobile purchases when you add your card to the app.
