Hi , We are Disney bound to Orlando 1/16/14. We are staying off property, can I make dining reservations since we are not on a meal plan ? Do you need them for Downtown Disney? Please share any other tips you might have for off property guests to know !

    Hi Kristi!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Mom Panel. You must be so excited for your trip. It's right around the corner!

I have stayed off-property several times and you will be happy to know you can absolutely make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADR). If you have your heart set on eating at any of Walt Disney World's table service restaurants you should definitely makes an ADR. The popular restaurants can get very busy during peak hours.

Some tips to consider when staying off property:
    • Parking at all of the Walt Disney World theme parks lots costs $15/day. However, you only have to pay that fee once per day. If you are planning on park hopping make sure to keep the receipt from your initial lot to show to the attendant at the second lot.
    • Parking is free at Downtown Disney, the water parks and ESPN Wide World of Sports.
    • Always plan on at least an hour to get into the parks. If you have an ADR, give yourself at least 1 1/2 hours to get to your restaurant.
    • If you have GPS, use it! The roads around Walt Disney World property can be complicated even for frequent Disney guests. Using a GPS, will help you navigate them with ease.
    • There are several Disney merchandise outlets along West Irlo Bronson Drive which offer discounted apparel and souvenirs..

I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions as you plan your magical Disney vacation please come back and see us.

    Have a pixie-dusted day.
