I have a Discover card. While we're scheduled to be in Disney in Sept., we receive 5% on restaurant purchases. Will our sit down restaurant purchases be classified as restaurants or just under the "entertainment" category?

    Hi Laura,

I bet you're getting excited for your September visit to the most magical place on earth! With beautiful fall decor, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and more moderate crowd levels, you've chosen a wonderful time of year to visit

I have a Discover credit card, too, and just went back to check previous statements for you. It looks like any retail, dining, or entertainment charges that I made with my MagicBand went directly to my Disney Resort hotel account and ran through the credit card as one lump sum under the Travel/Entertainment category. However, any charges that we made directly at Quick-Service locations, Table-Service restaurants, or even food carts (mmm...Disney popcorn is so delicious, and the refillable bucket is such a great value!) counted as a Restaurant purchase on my card. As long as you pay directly for your delicious and fun meals with your Discover credit card, you should get that extra 5% cash back bonus!

Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Laura, and please let us know if you have any other questions as you're planning your trip. I hope that you have a truly magical...and delicious...vacation!
