Welcome to planDisney, Mallory, and thank you for your family's service to our country! It sounds like you're planning a visit to
Walt Disney World Resort soon, so let's look at the current Special Offers you might be eligible for. In other words, let's run it up the flagpole!
I have many family members who have served in the United States Military, and I recently helped my mother-in-law purchase tickets at Shades of Green, an exclusive military resort on Disney property. So I'd be honored to help you today.
The
Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket is similar to an annual pass, and it can be purchased by eligible U.S. military personnel. A quick look at the
Shades of Green Eligibility page shows that the DD Form 2765 should be accepted. I'm crossing my fingers and giving a big salute that you'll be able to secure this admission for your family!
You can take your credentials to a participating military base, Shades of Green, or any Walt Disney World ticket booth to purchase the tickets. My tip is to head to Shades of Green because you're typically not charged sales tax at military bases. My mother-in-law saved a substantial amount in sales tax when she purchased four tickets there last week.
I would also suggest that you
call Shades of Green to confirm which forms you'll need. The helpful folks there are the real heroes of planning magical vacations for our country's service members.
Just to let you know, the eligible veteran or their spouse must be present when the tickets are first used at the theme park gate. And the qualifying member can usually purchase up to five additional tickets for family members or friends.
My absolute favorite hidden gem at
Magic Kingdom Park is watching the
Flag Retreat ceremony in Town Square. This moving event takes place at dusk every evening, and I promise that your military family will love it. My heart swells just thinking about it!
Mallory, I hope I've given you some guidance to help you take advantage of this fabulous ticket offer. It was an honor to help you today, and I hope your family makes many magical memories at Disney this year. Please stop by
planDisney anytime.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
