Greetings, Nicole! Let's hop aboard our Time Rover and head back to the Cretaceous Period to get that dino...and answer your question. You will arrive for your Walt Disney World Resort visit faster than Dr. Grant Seeker can authorize an unauthorized field trip. So, let's talk about the past - and the future - of DinoLand U.S.A.
My son and I visited
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park on opening day in 1998. His absolute favorite activity that day was digging in the dirt at
The Boneyard, so DinoLand holds a sentimental spot in my family's memories. Knowing that this area will be reimagined makes me feel nostalgic, so I understand your desire to enjoy its colorful quirkiness one last time.
I visited Animal Kingdom with my sisters a few days ago, and we bravely searched for the elusive Iguanodon on the
DINOSAUR attraction. I asked a Cast Member working at the ride if they knew when it would close, but he said they had yet to be given a date.
As of this writing, our only clue is that construction on the new land should
begin in late 2024, according to the Disney Parks Blog. The Imagineers have said that DinoLand U.S.A. will be reimagined as a region known as the Tropical Americas and have theming tied to the Indiana Jones series and
Encanto. Unfortunately, we don't have details about when areas of DinoLand will close, so I recommend watching the
Disney Parks Instagram account for announcements.
My tip for you is to enjoy every second you're in DinoLand. Snap photos to remember all the wild and wacky details, and ride DINOSAUR over and over. I may or may not have spent a small fortune attempting to win a Dino Institute plushie at
Fossil Fun Games, but the target WAS acquired! I wanted a keepsake to help me remember that long-ago day when my little guy discovered the magic of uncovering hidden relics and bones.
Nicole, I wish I had a definitive answer for you on how much longer we can avoid that giant asteroid and save the dino. In the meantime, enjoy your time experiencing DINOSAUR. What could go wrong?
Thanks again, and

Magic awaits,
