Hello Mike!
Welcome to planDisney! I am a huge fan of dining at Walt Disney World Resort. My family is now accustomed to taking a nice break in the middle of our day to sit and eat yummy food and cool off.
Anyone can make their
dining reservations 60 days before they arrive. However, guests staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel can book 60 days before and for the entirety of their stay up to 10 days. If you make a dining reservation for somewhere in the Parks, ensure that by the day of your reservation, you have a valid theme park admission. Valid theme park admission includes your ticket and if needed, a theme park reservation. Most
theme park tickets sold right now are date-based tickets which don't need a theme park reservation and you can visit whichever Park you like on whichever day you like.
Make sure that you are aware of the
cancellation policy for each of the dining reservations that you make as they can differ. If you book something but change your mind you do usually have a chance to make modifications with no issue if it is done in time. One of my favorite meals to book is the dining packages. The
Fantasmic! Dining Package is especially fun in that you are eating a delicious meal and also getting a voucher for VIP seating for Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios. On my last family trip, these seats were right in front and had a perfect view of everything. We also didn't have to wait for a long time in line but walked right up to our seats when it was time to do so.
I hope this helps and you have a delicious time!
Happy Planning!
