Hello, I'm not staying at the Disney resort, but would like to attend the character breakfast so my little bean could still experience some Disney magic. What are the restaurant blackout dates around Xmas/New Year for non resort guests?

Why hello there Ariel, I'm happy wish you a warm Canadian welcome to planDisney!

It's great to see fellow Canucks planning their trips down to Orlando - especially as it gets colder in Alberta and the days remain warm and in the twenties under the sunny December skies around Walt Disney World Resort. Now it sounds like there are a few different parts to your question, and since I'm currently here at Walt Disney World Resort, I went around to speak with the Cast Members and managers at a few restaurants to check how you and that little bean of yours can book that breakfast experience during your visit:

    • However, since I'm also not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel I took the opportunity to check availability directly with the restaurants offering Character breakfasts to see what you can currently book while these spots last. At the current time, both Cinderella's Royal Table and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in EPCOT appear to be entirely booked for breakfast though 1900 Park Fare does show openings into the first few days of January if you're still around!
    • Both Chef Mickey's and 'Ohana do not show any breakfast availability for that week at the time of writing though as a great alternative, Tusker House Restaurant has many more openings to start your day at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. I personally recommend other options such as Garden Grill Restaurant, Hollywood & Vine as well as Cape May Cafe which have much more availability between them for a chance for your child to experience that magical morning with these pals!
I hope this helps, Ariel! The Cast Members did also recommend checking for last-minute cancellations about 2 hours ahead for folks hoping to avoid a fee, though this cannot be guaranteed. I've personally had luck snagging a spot using the My Disney Experience app, so that could be a handy thing to keep an eye on while you're here!

Wishing you all the best on your quest to get your bean those special breakfast moments!
