Irene from NY Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

All our dining reservations have been made for our upcoming family trip in December, however only 1 adult in our party has a gluten allergy, and our granddaughter Whois 5 is basically vegetarian. How do I note that on our dining reservations?

Hello Irene, and welcome to planDisney! Congratulations on your exciting Walt Disney World trip that is just around the river bend. It will be here before you know it!

This is the perfect time for you to be checking on plans for food allergies and accommodations. Disney World has several options to make sure everyone in your party has a safe, delicious, and magical experience. I would take some time to check out Disney's Special Dietary Requests page, as it is filled with helpful information that can assist during your visit.

First, I recommend checking out the restaurant menus ahead of time to view available vegetarian and gluten-free options at that location. All table service and select quick-service restaurants offer a menu with allergen information, and the buffets provide a guide. You can find menus by searching for the name of the restaurant, either in the Dining section of Disney World's website, or from inside the My Disney Experience app.

Specifically for your gluten allergy party member, there are three recommended steps to take while dining at Disney World.

    1. Tell the Cast Member assisting with your order that you have a special diets request. For table service restaurants, this will be your server.

    2. Your order should be delivered with a visual marker, indicated that it followed the allergy request process. If you don't see this, ask a Cast Member.

    3. When your order is delivered, verbally confirm your request with the Cast Member. Feel free to ask “Is this the pasta made without gluten?”

Even quick service dining locations should have some options that will work for your party! I enjoy placing my family's order in the  My Disney Experience app, using the mobile food orders feature. This can also save your party time in line! You will likely find allergy-friendly items on these menus, but you can also ask to speak with a special diets-trained Cast Member to see if there are additional options available.

I have plant-based diet friends who say the offerings just continue to get better and better at Disney World, with increased availability all the time. Your granddaughter can hopefully find plenty of tasty things she enjoys!

Irene, I hope this helps with your planning and reassures you that your dining experiences will go smoothly while at Disney World. Please feel free to send us any other questions at planDisney... we're happy to help!

    Magical memories await,
    Tami
