If we make dining reservations for 3 but find out the week before that only 2 will be able to make it are we penalized?

Hey there, hi there, Greg! Welcome, and thanks for bouncing on in to visit.

Walt Disney World has so many incredible dining experiences. Every time I plan a family vacation, I end up with an almost endless list of must-do dining reservations from my gang.

As you know, even the best-laid plans sometimes go a little off the track, and you may have to cancel a dining reservation or modify one. Not to worry, Greg. If you find yourself needing to cancel a reservation entirely, you can do that up to the day before your reservation. But in your case, if you need to cancel just one person, you can usually handle that with a quick online modification using your My Disney Experience account.

Once you've logged in, you can scroll down to your reservation, and hit the Change Reservation button to the right. That will let you adjust the number of people on your reservation from your trio down to two if you need to. I want to just point out one thing, Greg. When you modify the number, it will show you a list of available times, or it might show you no times available for your new party size. In that case, we're gonna be like Elsa and Let It Go. If you get to the restaurant for your dining reservation and there are only two of you, you will not be penalized for the third person not being there. Things like this happen all the time, and as long as someone shows up, they won't charge the penalty.

I hope you get to enjoy some amazing restaurants!
