Is the Dining plan (1 snack, 1 quick, & 1 table) worth it for two adults (no kids)? In the past we didn't get the dining plan and we don't tend to eat some place fancy each night. Not sure if it's worth $1200 for two?

    Hi Callie,

I have a love/hate relationship with the Disney Dining Plan.  While I can't tell you whether it's worth it or not because that's a decision that only you can make, I can tell you the pros and the cons.
    • Pros-
    • All of your dining is pre-paid and budgeted so you will not have to worry about the cost of meals on your vacation.
    • Most of the restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort accept the Dining Plan, so there's never a worry about where you are able to eat.
    • There is no set menu for the Dining Plan.  The menu is the same for both Dining Plan guests and non Dining Plan guests.
    • Cons-
    • It is pricey.  Depending on where you eat, it may be cheaper to pay out of pocket.
    • You get a lot of food on the plan.  On previous trips, I found that I was too stuffed from all the food and ended up wasting credits.

If you don't like to regularly eat a table service meal, then I would not recommend the standard Dining Plan.  You may want to go with the Quick Service Plan, which is less expensive and not quite as much food to eat.

There is a calculator at distripplanner.com which can help you determine if the Disney Dining Plan is a good financial choice for your family.  Once you plug in those numbers, you can then make an informed decision on what you'd like to do.

I hope this information was helpful.  If there is anything else we can do to make your vacation planning less stressful, just let us know.

    Be Magical,
