Are there any dining locations that serve good southern home cooking?

You do have some Southern U.S. food options at WDW. Probably your best bet for both food and atmosphere would be the Sunday Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues at Downtown Disney. This weekly event features amazing gospel musicians pouring out their souls while the chefs serve a buffet featuring soul food. Some of the choices on the buffet line typically include: buttermilk biscuits with gravy, cheese grits, creole potatoes, rice and beans, turnip greens, BBQ chicken, chicken jambalaya, honey ham, apple cobbler, and other tasty treats. The regular, non-Sunday-buffet menu at the House of Blues also has some Southern favorites including catfish nuggets, turkey and shrimp gumbo, shrimp creole, and baby back ribs.

Another place to find some Southern options would be at the Port Orleans resort. Boatwrights Dining Hall, at PO Riverside, features crawfish cakes, steak and red bean soup, buttermilk fried chicken, sweet potato salad, and pecan pie.

I am so hungry now :-)  Happy eating!
