We want to dine at the Victoria's and Alberts during our honeymoon, but I have a question about the wine pairing option. Does It means that in the fixed price six course menu, it doesn't include wine ? What is included in the wine pairing option ?

You've made a wonderful choice to dine at Victoria & Albert's during your honeymoon. I dined there for the first time last week for my anniversary. My meal at V&A's was among the top three I've had in my life. My husband, who travels extensively on business and is used to gourmet meals in top restaurants in NYC and around the world, was similarly impressed.

The V&A menu is unique daily, constructed with the freshest seasonal ingredients. The "six course" menu is really eight courses because of the amuse bouche pre-appetizer and post-dessert friandise. There is prix fixe charge for the meal. Prices can change, currently this is $125 per person. On the night we dined, there were a few choices that included a surcharge above this flat rate. For example, during the fish course there were three options. Two were included in the fixed price, the third, Monterey Abalone, was a $30 additional charge.

Alcoholic beverages are not included in the price of the meal. There is a full bar and an extensive wine list at additional cost. You can also choose to have the wine pairing with your meal. The current cost for this is $60.00 per person. I chose to get the wine pairing, while my husband did not. With the wine pairing, I got six (or possibly seven, I lost count after a while) glasses of wine selected by the chef to complement my meal choice at each course. The wine was all incredibly delicious. Many of the pourings were wines that I was unfamiliar with and might not have chosen on my own. I was very glad that I ordered the pairing. However, as an average-ish sized woman, I felt like this was a lot of alcohol to have with one meal. It worked out well that my husband did not order the pairing. It ended up that I had about of third of each glass, he had about a third of each glass, and we left a little at the bottom of each glass.

We're already planning to go back to V&A for our anniversary next year. I'm sure that we will again share the one pairing.
