what are the dimensions of the lockers that you can rent at wdw. wanted to make sure our soft sided cooler would fit inside a locker. are there good areas to eat a packed lunch at?

The locker sizes vary slightly at each of the four theme parks and the water parks. You can find the complete dimensions for all locker permutations at an independent website called pixie-travel.com. To get to the information you need, go to that site and click on "resorts" near the top right of the page. Scroll down a bit and on the left you'll see a list of "Vacation Planning" links and a listing called "Locker Rental Information." The link there lists all the locker locations, prices, and sizes at WDW.

For quick reference, the Magic Kingdom lockers are:

    - Small = 11" high x 9" wide x 16" deep
    - Large = 17" high x 12" wide x 22" deep.

I personally have found the large Magic Kingdom lockers to be size almost perfectly for a standard school backpack.

As far as place to eat go. They're aren't really any designated picnic areas. There are however several counter service restaurants at all the parks that have outdoor seating. An example of this would be the Flame Tree BBQ at the Animal Kingdom. You would be welcome to sit at the tables for any of these counter service venues and have your packed lunch there.

I hope you have a wonderful visit to Walt Disney World.
