Hello Kate, and welcome to planDisney! We're so happy you're here, and thank you for visiting.
It sounds like you've got some magical ideas in store for your next visit to Walt Disney World! When my family vacations here, we typically don't even rent a vehicle. We enjoy using the
complementary Disney Transportation offered to Disney Resort guests, and staying right inside that magical bubble for our entire stay.
So coming from that mindset... no, I don't think it is difficult to get from Disney's Grand Floridian to the lovely
Cake Bake Shop in Disney's Boardwalk area. Consider it a pixie-dusted adventure! When navigating to dining reservations located at other Disney Resorts, the key is to remember that Disney Transportation is offered between Resorts and Parks (but not Resort-to-Resort). So from the Grand Floridian, I recommend hopping on the monorail to Magic Kingdom, which will be just one stop away. From there you will exit the monorail and walk over to the Disney bus area, then take the next bus heading to
Disney's Boardwalk Resort. From there you can walk to the Cake Bake Shop!
If you will need to return to the
Grand Floridian, you will do the reverse. Use the Disney bus transportation from Boardwalk to Magic Kingdom, and then switch to the monorail service and ride until the Grand Floridian stop. Make sure to board the Monorail "Resort Loop", not the "Express Monorail" (which goes straight to the Ticket and Transportation Center). Or you could even take the short walk from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian, using the new paved walkway. Walking this last segment can be a nice option if the end-of-evening monorail is drawing a large crowd.
Kate, I hope this helps. I have yet to dine at The Cake Bake shop, but my friends have shared photos and it looks absolutely breathtaking. Well worth the mini-travel adventure to get there! Enjoy every magical morsel, and please feel free to visit us at
planDisney any time with additional questions.
Sending pixie dust!
