Patrick,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Before we start, kudos to you for bringing in a cooler. It is a great way to save money on a trip, keep your family hydrated, and make sure everyone has the treats that they prefer.
I do get that the rules can be confusing. So let's clear it up, once and for all, based on Disney's official
Walt Disney World Property Rules.
Rule 1: SizeAny bags you bring in, including coolers, have to be 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) or smaller.
Rule 2: Cooling materialsLoose ice and dry ice are prohibited. Disney recommends using ice packs.
Rule 3: WheelsI am not sure where you saw that wheeled coolers were not permitted, but as per the rules page, you should be OK. Remember, however, that the wheels are included in those overall bag dimensions. What you might have seen was someone who read that shoes with built-in wheels are prohibited, and got the two confused.
BONUS TIPIn each park there are
lockers available to rent. They are at the front of each park after passing through the turnstiles, and there are a few locker sizes available. They are keyless and typically will cost you $15 or less for the day. The
Magic Kingdom Park and
EPCOT even have a few larger lockers available that are up to 17" x 22" x 26" (43 cm x 55 cm x 66 cm). Prices can change, so check first online for current rates.
Write me back if you have any follow-up questions.
