Hi What is the difference between the magic bands you get with a WDW vacation versus a custom one? If we want one with a design i.e Mickey mouse, do we get them shipped to us and we decline the one that comes with our package or do we get both?

Hi, Sandee! Thanks for reaching out to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My family loves to use our MagicBands when we stay at Walt Disney World Resorts. The bands that are added to your reservation automatically are a solid color and do not cost any extra.

You can decline each MagicBand assigned to members of your travel party by going into your account. Once you're there, you can click on each the band one-by-one. Instead of clicking the "Customize" button, choose the link that says, "Decline MagicBand."

If you decline the bands and want to have new ones before you arrive, you can order different ones with all kinds of designs from the Disney Store. When you have those bands in hand, you can link them by going to the bottom of that MagicBand account page, scroll to the bottom and click on the "Link" button.

The main difference between the two types of MagicBands is the resort bands are free, and the other ones are an extra expense.

I hope you have a wonderful visit to Walt Disney World and have fun with whatever style MagicBand you pick. Let me know if you have any other questions leading up to your visit.

Meet the Panelist: Jen, Missouri

I’m a mom, wife and goldendoodle dog owner who is not afraid to ride a fast roller coaster again and again. I love to travel - which is good since I telework with a job in Washington, DC. I’ve visited Disneyland and Walt Disney World multiple times and it’s fed into my belief that you’re never too old to have fun. I run when I can and recently earned my runDisney Coast to Coast medal! I also love photography and founded an online special needs community. Learn More About Jen
