Ahoy there, Gary!
It is great to hear from you again! Now that the
Disney Destiny has set sail from Port Everglades, it's a great idea to add on a magical stay at the
Walt Disney World Resort before charting your course on this newest ship in the Disney fleet.
I was fortunate to have sailed on the Disney Destiny in November and had a few days to enjoy the parks before embarking. I had a few options to consider for my transport, as Disney Cruise Line does not offer any at this time. Since we had flown into the Orlando International Airport and did not rent a car, we decided to take the Brightline from their station at the airport in Orlando to
Fort Lauderdale. This was our first time, and it was a seamless ride and quite relaxing. The ride was about three hours long, and we enjoyed the free Wi-Fi and taking in the scenery.
Another option to consider is a rental car. The drive is a little over three hours without traffic on the Florida Turnpike.
Your final option is to fly from MCO to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport. This flight is around an hour. Disney Cruise Line offers a
transportation add-on from the airport to Port Everglades if you'd like to arrange it before you arrive.
Gary, I hope your future includes a sailing on the marvelous Disney Destiny! The heroes-and-villains theming is so well done, and the unique offerings will make for a memorable sailing on the high seas. I also can't recommend the experiences with Zayah and Gamble, the ship's extraordinary storytellers, enough! Be sure to check the
DCL Navigator App for all their appearances.
Happy planning!
Nancy
