Hi Kayleigh,
Planning a vacation to Disney World is extra magical and it is always disappointing when plans have to change. Fortunately, Disney World has a cancellation policy that is easy to understand and fair to those who have to change an upcoming trip. The cancellation policy that you are subject to will be determined by whether you booked a Disney World Package that includes tickets or if you booked a Room-Only reservation.
I spoke with a cast member to confirm the policy for Room-Only reservations. If you booked a Room-Only reservation, the Resort cancellation can be made up to 5 days in advance for a full refund including the deposit that way paid ahead of time. For 0-4 days before vacation, you will lose the cost of a one-night stay which was also the price of the deposit you paid.
If you booked a
2024 Disney World Package, you can cancel 30 days or more before your arrival for a full refund minus cancellation fees. These cancellation fees are normally only an issue if you use a third party to book your vacation. If you cancel 2 days to 29 days before your arrival you can receive a refund minus a cancellation fee of $200 per package plus any third-party cancellation fees you are subject to. If you cancel 1 day or less before arrival, your package is nonrefundable. Refunds will also not be available for early departure from your hotel or tickets or meals purchased that are not used in full during your vacation.
Keep in mind that these policies are always subject to change. You should be able to see what the cancellation policy is for your specific booking by checking the original confirmation email you received when booking. If you decide to cancel your reservation, this can be done directly in your
My Disney Experience account. If you prefer to make the cancellation over the phone, you will need to call
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations for assistance with any changes. They will be able to tell you when to expect the refund to hit your account. Whenever I have made changes to vacations in the past, the refund was received within a week, but this will be dependent on your original payment method. If you have concerns about knowing exactly how long that should take to hit your account, I suggest calling to make your cancellation.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
