Hi there, Lola! Thanks for coming to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. We are always happy to give you some food for thought!
The main reason so many guests love the
Disney Dining Plan is that it gives you the convenience of pre-paying for your meals, similar to an all-inclusive vacation experience. Personally, I like not having to look at the prices of items, knowing that I can order almost anything on the menu; Disney also sweetened the pot recently when they started including an alcoholic beverage for guests 21 and older.
As of January 1, 2020, Walt Disney World Resort has changed the way it displays adult and child dining plan entitlements for Quick Service and Deluxe Dining Plans on the
My Disney Experience App. This change makes it easier to see how dining entitlements (also called credits) are allocated. Previously, the credits for guests on the Deluxe and Quick Service Plans were pooled together for your entire travel party, regardless of whether they were for children or adults. This "loophole" meant that a child's credits could be used for adult meals because there was no designation. Although you'll still get three meals and two snacks per person per day on the
Deluxe Dining Plan, with this update, the credits are now separated. This means that you'll have to stick to kids' meals for your Mouseketeer. However, it never hurts to ask your server! Some kiddos have adventurous palates (my little guy loves
Jiko's Grilled Wild Boar Tenderloin appetizer), and the restaurant might be able to let your son order a smaller portion of an item off the adult's menu.
I hope you have a magical and delicious vacation, Lola!
