Hi Mona!
Bravo for booking a placeholder for a future cruise while onboard! A placeholder has some great perks, so I'm so happy you were able to take advantage of it. Sounds like you are ready to enjoy
all that's included on a Disney cruise with Captain Mickey. To that I say, “Me too!”
As you are aware, the onboard booking you made on your prior Disney cruise, called a
placeholder, allows you up to 24 months from the date the placeholder was booked to set sail. So since you booked a placeholder on December 17, 2019, then under ordinary rules, you are correct that it would be available to be used towards cruise travel until December 17, 2021. However, I have heard that many placeholders are being extended through September 2022. My suggestion is that you
contact Disney Cruise Line by phone to discuss your placeholder and what extension might be available to you.
If you do decide to just go ahead and make a reservation by May 31, 2021 for sailings through October 2021, you also can take advantage of Disney Cruise Line's
Cruise Date Flexibility policy, allowing you to change your sail date up to 15 days before departure!
So hopefully your placeholder can be extended or at the least this gives you all the assurances that you can make a reservation for a date that works best for you within your placeholder window. WISHing you the best of luck as you select a voyage and embark on a magnificent cruise.
Happy Sailing!
Sherry
