Welcome Home, James!
Membership does have its privileges! The
Top of the World Lounge is such an amazing perk for
Disney Vacation Club Members! It definitely feels special to have access to this exclusive location with its amazing view. Members can enjoy delightfully delicious small plates and appetizers, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialty drinks while overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom.
First, I do want you to be aware that the Top of the World Lounge has not yet reopened at
Disney’s Bay Lake Tower. I am hopeful that by the end of 2021 we will see it return, but no announcements have been made as to when that might happen. It is possible the lounge may not be open during your visit. There has also not been an announcement as to when nighttime spectaculars will return. I am very much hoping they will be back in time for the
Magic Kingdom’s 50th Anniversary Celebration!Disney Vacation Club Members may bring Guests with them who are staying on the same reservation. If your Guests were staying in your room, they would absolutely be allowed to join you in the lounge. It sounds as if they are not in your room, but in a second room you have booked for them with your Membership. This is one of those infrequent situations that isn’t spelled out specifically. These rules have changed from time-to-time, and the guidelines could be different when the lounge reopens. As long as you had a back-up plan, and since your Guests are staying in a Disney Vacation Club room on your Membership and you will be present, you might inquire at the check-in desk it would be allowable for them to accompany you. You would need to provide your Membership Card and ID at the check-in desk along with your MagicBand or room card.
If your friends were not permitted to join you, I recommend going for a drink at
The Wave Lounge at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort. They have an amazing menu and you could enjoy each other’s company for a bit before the (hopeful) fireworks. I highly recommend the Pina CoLava! Fireworks can be viewed along the bridge between Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Bay Lake Tower, or outside on the sidewalk between the resorts as well. While you wouldn’t have the soundtrack in those locations, you’d have a lovely, socially distant view of the show.
I am hoping that by December we will see both the lounge reopen and the nighttime spectaculars return to the Walt Disney World Resort! Wishing you a magical visit, and please let me know if you have any questions before your upcoming trip!
