Hi Lois! I've stayed at both the Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and they're both beautiful resorts with a somewhat similar architecture. As far as transportation to the parks, I'd have to give the win to the Wilderness Lodge. Its located close to the Magic Kingdom, and you have the option of traveling there by boat in addition to bus. At the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you'll have to use the buses to travel to all of the parks, and the ride is generally longer than what you'll experience from the Wilderness Lodge. The Wilderness Lodge's location close to the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Fort Wilderness Resorts also gives you convenient access to lots of dining options, which is a real benefit. So, if convenience is your main concern, choose the Wilderness Lodge.
Now, with that being said, I have to tell you that personally, I prefer the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I love the theming of the resort -- you truly feel as if you've been transported to another place there. Sitting on your balcony watching giraffes, zebras, and Ankole cattle grazing on an African savanna is a unique and magical experience that you can't get anywhere else in America. For me, that's worth the slightly less convenient transportation, and an added benefit is that I can often find a less expensive room rate at the Animal Kingdom Lodge than the Wilderness Lodge.
I hope this helps you decide -- you really can't go wrong with either resort! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions!
