Hello Elizabeth!
Welcome to planDisney! We often do split stays, and I think they are somewhat common for
Disney Vacation Club Members, especially when booking less than 7 months out. On our trip last fall, we changed resorts not once, but twice! A split-stay can be a great way to enjoy the different amenities and dining at the various Disney Vacation Club Resorts, be closer to specific theme parks, or make it easier to book a last-minute stay.
You’ll be happy to know that Bell Services will still transfer your luggage from one
Disney Resort Collection Hotel to another. The process works just as it did before the pandemic, and you can either call Bell Services to come to your room, or you can bring your luggage to the valet at the front of the resort and ask for your luggage to be transferred.
There has been one change, however. In the past few weeks, Disney has stopped transferring groceries. This was honestly a big disappointment for me, as we usually do a large grocery order. They will not transfer anything perishable, meaning your refrigerated or cold items. Hearing from friends and fellow Guests, it seems a case of “your mileage may vary” when it comes to non-perishables. Some folks are reporting not having any issues at all, yet I have heard some Members mention things like cases of soda or bottled water were refused. If the items are inside a bag like a suitcase or duffle bag, and they are “luggage” there don't seem to be any problems. Keep this in mind if you plan to have groceries. You may consider doing two smaller orders rather than one large order at the beginning of your trip.
I hope this helps with your planning, Elizabeth! Go book that vacation before it’s gone!
Wishing you
