    I am still debating getting on the DDP, but I am curious as to what you reccomend as the best places for counter service meals, so we can get a variety of foods. Going in early January, 2014. Cannot wait!!

    Meredith,

    I find a number of the Quick Service restaurants to be great options for meals. And they can really build in the variety you are looking for more than you might imagine. Here are my favorites, by location;

    Magic Kingdom: The variety here is not so great, but the quality is improving. Columbia Harbor House is my favorite, for the Hummus Sandwich, and Sleep Hollow has great waffle sandwiches.

    Epcot: Tangierine Cafe is one of my two favorites quick service restaurants in all of Walt Disney World, and the shawarma platters are delicious. There is also a great food court in the Land Pavilion (Sunshine Seasons). Frankly the World Showcase has so many other options (Les Halles and Yorkshire Co. Fish Shop both come to mind), that you could plan several Quick Service meals here.

    Hollywood Studios: The ABC Commissary has a few internationally-inspired options. Otherwise go with the gourmet hot dogs at Fairfax Fare.

    Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree BBQ is the other of my two favorites quick service restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. The BBQ is very good, and the seating areas down by the water has an exotic ambiance.

    Downtown Disney: Cookes of Dublin has some fun Irish-inspired options, Earl of Sandwich is a surprisingly varied sandwich shop, and the Wolfgang Puck express venues have some great contemporary lunches.

    Really, I think that some of the counter service options are better than some of the table service options at times. As long as you steer away from quick service pizza, and work toward the variety that you seek, you will enjoy these meals more than you might imagine.

    Write me back if you want some other suggestions!

    Have a magical vacation!
