DD will be 9 for our next trip and hates the kids menus and is an adventurous eater. We'll be doing the DDP, would it be possible to purchase her the adult DDP without having to lie about her age? Thank you.

    Hi Hillary!

You definitely don't need to lie about your child's age to ensure she is able to find things on the menu that she likes at Walt Disney World. Since she is 9, she is considered a child for both Disney World tickets and the Disney Dining Plan (DDP). That's good news because you can pay for the child's plan and tickets, which are less expensive than adult tickets/plan.

Typically she will need to order off of the child's menu, however, many of the restaurants offer wonderful choices for adventurous eaters, it's not all chicken nuggets and pizza.

For example, at Narcoosee's children can choose from sirloin with roasted fingerling potatoes or oven-baksed fish with basamati rice. At Teppan Edo in the World Showcase at Ecpot, children can choose from Ebi (shrimp with udon noodles), tempura or tori - all great selections for the adventurous eater.

Another suggestion is to book restaurants that offer an all-you-care-to-eat buffet. This way your daughter can choose from a wide selection of foods that they offer for adults and children and is sure to find something that she likes.

Biergarten in the Germany Pavillion in Epcot offers sausages, spaetzle, schnitzel, frikadelle, strudels and cheesecake on their Oktoberfest buffet. Another great buffet is Boama at Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have traditional mealie bread, african soups and stews, roasted salmon and fresh seafood.

I hope you have a magical vacation!

    Magically,
    Stacy
