    DCL Eastern Caribbean in May. Right now, we are using private transfers to the ship. How does luggage work for dismbarking the ship with private transfers? Do you still put luggage out the night before? Can you still check in for the airline on the ship

    Welcome back, Angie! I'm glad to see you back with another question!

    If you are using a private transfer from the ship to the airport, you will not be able to use the onboard airline check-in where Disney sends your bags directly to your home airport. I love being able to do this, as it is so nice not to have to worry about toting around the luggage.

    However, as all guests do, you will still need to put your luggage out in the hall for pick-up the night before. Once you arrive back at Port Canaveral, you'll disembark and head to the big luggage area in the terminal to pick up your own bags, proceed through customs and head out with your private transfer.

    You mentioned that you are using private transfers to the ship. If you aren't set on how to return, I'd highly suggest booking Disney Cruise Line's ground transportation. It costs $35 per person each way, so going only one way to the airport won't cost too much. You would then be eligible for the onboard airline check-in and be able to send your bags off with Disney. It makes for a very smooth, stress-free ending to a magical cruise, since Disney takes care of all the details. If you'd like to add this ground transportation, simply call Disney Cruise Line, or your travel agent, and have that added to your reservation.
