17 days until WDW ! I have 3 questions. Is POR in walking distance to Epcot? Can we take the monorail from Epcot to the Polynesian (dinner res.)? Do you have to be inside Epcot gates to get on the monorail? You guy's are great! Very helpful!!

    Christine,

I envy your upcoming trip!  I sure wish I was going to Disney in 17 days!  :)

-Port Orleans Riverside is not within walking distance of Epcot - not safely anyway.  There are no sidewalks that would take you there, and it is a very busy road.  You'll definitely need to use the resort transportation to go between the two.

-Yes, you can take the monorail from Epcot to the Polynesian.  (And you'll have a great dinner there - yum!)  We really enjoy the ride to/from Epcot on the monorail, as it's a longer experience and usually less crowded than the Magic Kingdom route.  The Epcot monorail will not go directly from Epcot to the resorts.  You will be taken to the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC), and from there you should catch the 'Resort Monorail' (there will be signs indicating which platform to use) to the Polynesian.

-The Epcot monorail station is outside the park gates, so you will actually be leaving the park to board the monorail.  Because this is a longer route, the stops are less frequent as well.  I suggest you allow 40+ minutes for transportation between the two locations.  You're always advised to check in at the restaurant podium 10-20 minutes in advance of your dinner reservation, and earlier is always better than later.

    Have a fantastic vacation!
