Hi there, Maura!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We're glad you're here. This is a great question, and I'm happy to assist you.
Chef Mickey's is one of my family's favorite Character Dining experiences. It doesn't get much better than enjoying a delicious dinner while being greeted tableside by the "Fab 5" as the monorail zips by overhead. This all-you-care-to-enjoy dining location features a bountiful buffet and provides a festive atmosphere. With your existing Advanced Dining Reservation, I don't believe you will have adequate time to return to the park following dinner if Magic Kingdom Park closes at 10:00 p.m. I usually allow at least 90 minutes for Character Dining. If you can find availability at an earlier time that evening, I recommend modifying your existing Advanced Dining Reservation to 5:00 - 5:30 p.m. in order to enjoy a relaxing dinner and then returning to Magic Kingdom Park to experience the nighttime activities. My family frequently follows a similar plan as we prefer to take a break from the park in the afternoon, but always return in the early evening. We find the parks to be even more magical at night.
From Magic Kingdom Park, you can either walk or board the monorail bound for Disney's Contemporary Resort. When returning to the park, I suggest walking as it will be quicker than riding the Resort Monorail loop. During one of your days at Magic Kingdom Park, I highly recommend viewing
Happily Ever After, a spectacular fireworks display, which is "not to be missed" in my opinion.
I hope this information helps in making the best decision for your family, Maura. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any new questions. Best wishes for a magical trip!
Happy Planning,
Jodie
