    19 days left before our fist trip. Have 3, 10 & 15 year old . Is their any rules on letting the 15 year old be on his own in the parks?

    Hi Chuck!

    What age is old enough to be at the parks on their own?  Having a teenager myself, I struggled with this decision just a few short months ago. Several factors should be considered before giving your child wings at Walt Disney World.  Primarily, it should be noted that there are no "set" rules for teen visitors at the theme parks, nor are there age restrictions for any attractions, solely height restrictions. 

    Is your teen able to navigate the parks on their own without your guidance?  Many teens who have visited the parks on several occasions are able to make their way through the parks without issues, sometimes better than their parents.  It also helps that there are maps and Cast Members available to provide directions and assistance when needed. 

    Communication should be key between parent and child.  In this way, you will know where your child is at, what attraction he/she might be enjoying and set up a mutual meeting place and time so that you can touch bases with your child and make sure he/she is having a magical experience. 

    Set your own rules for the theme parks.  Let it be well established ahead of time the behaviors that are and are not acceptable.  This way, your teen will know what is expected of her/him prior to the park experience, be it meeting times, spending monies or family time.  Either way, this is a great time to allow your kid to enjoy his/her favorite attractions at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
