Cindy from Ontario Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Day one of our trip we will arrive around 2pm. Do we have to use a full day ticket pass or the park pass portion of the ticket? Do you have to reserve a park when park hopping after 2pm? If so, do you only reserve on the day you wish to park hop?

Hello again, Cindy! We here at planDisney are ready to help you tackle this question!

When you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort sometimes it's hard to decide where to begin your vacation! My family and I often spend our first night at Disney Springs, especially if we're arriving later in the day.  This shopping, dining, and entertainment district has 65 over-the-top delicious dining options, like Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' and Maria & Enzo's Ristorante, and there's no limit to the time I would wait for an almost half-pound cookie from Gideon's Bakehouse!  You might even think of seeing the new show Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil and Disney. I was lucky enough to see this show in December and have to tell you I was completely blown away.  It was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen.  Since visiting Disney Springs is free, we often spend our first night there and save our Theme Park Tickets for our full days visiting the Resort.

You and your party will need both a valid Theme Park Ticket as well as a Park Pass Reservation to enter your first Theme Park of each day.  If you have a Park Hopper Option ticket each time you scan in at the first turnstile of the day one of those days is deducted from your ticket.  Whether you're arriving for "rope drop" the moment the Park opens, or you're heading in for the first time for dinner, you will be using one "day" of your Ticket.  If you have a Park Hopper ticket you are able to "hop" to any other Park any time after 2 p.m.  Hopping does not reduce the number of days you are able to use your Theme Park Ticket.

Since this is a lot to process,  here's an example.  If you have a 4-day Park Hopper Option ticket, you have 4 days total to scan into the Parks.  On your first day, you may choose to start at Magic Kingdom and hop to EPCOT.  You and your party will need to make a Park Pass Reservation for Magic Kingdom and you must scan into Magic Kingdom before you can hop to EPCOT after 2 p.m.  At the moment, Park Pass Reservations are not needed for subsequent Parks you may be hopping to later in the day.

I hope I've answered your question, Cindy! Please come back and see us again if you need anything else for your magical vacation!
