Welcome Aboard, Latania!
Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask your Disney Cruising question.
Castaway Cay, Disney's Private Island paradise is our family's favorite stop on our Disney Cruise Line vacations.
Even if your family is full of landlubbers, there are plenty of activities for them to participate in. There is a lovely walking path that takes you to a lookout tower, where you will see the island in a whole new way. The entire walk is about one and a half miles. You could also rent bikes for your family and take the bikes out to the lookout.
When you get hungry, there are two BBQ locations to choose from, Cookies and Cookies, Too. The cruise activities staff also has family activities like dance parties and crab races near the BBQ areas.
The white sand beaches are perfect for making sand castles, burying your feet, or just hanging out. Even non-swimmers can enjoy wading into the crystal-clear ocean and searching for sea creatures and shells. You aren't allowed to take the shells from the island, ,but it is still fun to hunt and collect them for the day. We have seen some pretty spectacular sand creations on many of our trips to Castaway Cay.
If you decide that you would rather spend time in the pools, you are welcome to head back to your Disney Cruise Line ship and enjoy the water areas. Often, the pools are nearly empty while docked at CC, since most passengers head to the island for the day.
I hope this helps with your cruise planning! Please visit us here again with more questions before your family sets sail.
Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
