On my day of arrival, I will be arriving prior to 3pm check-in time. Am I still permitted to park in the resort parking lot before 3 and catch the Disney bus to a park?

Welcome back to planDisney, Janice! It is always nice to see our guests come back to ask us more questions.

When you arrive to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, no matter the time of day, I recommend heading to the front desk to do an actual check-in. I have been pleasantly surprised with a room available at all different times of the day. While you don’t need the room at that moment, it is nice to deliver your bags and take a moment to organize yourself before running off to the theme parks.

Now, if your room isn’t ready, it is no big deal. Simply take your luggage to bell services, where they are happy to take it off your hands. You will be given a claim ticket to use later when you return and get into your room. If you have your own car, you are also able to either park it at the resort or take it to your chosen theme park and park (theme park parking is included with your resort stay).

I began renting a car for our Walt Disney World vacations about 6 years ago. Once I discovered the freedom of having my own vehicle at the theme parks, I stopped waiting in line for buses. It is often, however, a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the theme parks.

I know you will have a wonderful visit for The Most Magical Celebration on Earth in January. This is one of my favorite months to visit, because the weather is perfect. Being from the frigid Midwest, January is also a perfect time to get out of the snow and cold.

I know we will see you again when you have another vacation planning question! Thanks again for visiting us.

    Happy Traveling,
