My daughter's boyfriend is planning to propose to her while we are visiting WDW. Any suggestions on assistance for the proposal? He can't do expensive after paying for the trip.

    Congratulations Jean!

It sounds like lots of exciting happenings are brewing in your family’s future! I love that your future son-in-law is planning on proposing at Walt Disney World Resort. It will indeed be a magical start to their Happily Ever After.

There is a carriage-full of inexpensive/free proposal options at Walt Disney World Resort! I think one of my favorite ideas is to have the Characters get involved. He can pick your daughter’s favorite Character, and propose with them. If he can get someone to distract her, he can slip the ring to a Cast Member at the greeting. They can then pass the ring on to Mickey, Elsa & Anna, Ariel, or Gaston (the possibilities are endless!), who can be part of the proposal. The great thing about a Character Greeting is that there will be a Disney PhotoPass photographer on hand to capture the magical moment!

Speaking of Disney PhotoPass photographers, a perfect place to propose is in front of Cinderella Castle! Your future son can let the photographer in on his secret, or drop to one knee as they are posing - either option is a win for sure! (BTW, this is the proposal my husband suggests. He says it’s iconic “Disney.”) If he thinks your daughter prefers a more intimate setting, there are plenty of gorgeous nooks and crannies to propose! I think the tiger enclosure on the Maharajah Jungle Trek is lovely, and the big cats make a beautiful background to a proposal. He could also surprise her with a ring on the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Village during the nighttime fireworks - that would definitely be a moment to remember!

If he wants to do something interactive, how about a fun scavenger hunt through the Parks? They can visit all of your daughter’s favorite spots (I think Minnie EARs and Dole Whips should be involved!), and take pics for the ‘Gram at each one. They can end on an iconic ride (Dumbo ~ The Flying Elephant, maybe?) where he can ask your daughter to spend the rest of their lives together. If he wants a unique way to catch the proposal, have him pull out the ring on Haunted Mansion as they are riding the dune buggy through the ghost hall. Her surprise and a spooktacular haunt will both be captured on film!

Jean, if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to come back. We would love to hEAR how the proposal goes!
