I have 2 daughters, ages 7 and 5, and this will be a first trip for all of us! We are considering going either March 26-April 1 or June 30-July 6, 2010. Which time period would you recommend, considering crowds and weather? Thanks for all the help!

    Hi Keri!

It looks like you might be trying to take advantage of the school holidays in order to visit WDW! Since our family has two school-aged kids, we often do the same.

The good news is, I don't think there is a wrong decision since a trip to Disney is always magical! But, since you have to decide, I'll try to help you out with some pros and cons of each time.

Mar 26 - Apr 1 - This is spring break for many schools, so it is typically more crowded than a regular week. However, any time that more attendance is expected the theme park hours are adjusted accordingly. This means that the parks will open earlier, and close later, than other times in the spring.

The weather in Florida is usually much more manageable during the spring months than later in the summer. However, there have been odd heat waves and/or cold snaps at just about any time of the year. Many weather sites (such as weather.com) will provide a "history" of weather for a location. It may be helpful to look to see what the "norm" is for each week that you are considering.

Jun 30 - Jul 6- Fourth of July! Celebrating a holiday at Disney World is always spectacular - and Independence Day is no exception. If you love fireworks, this may be the time for you!

In general, this is one of the highest attendance times, but again this is taken into account with the operating hours of each park.

While Florida in summer can be quite hot, its also give you a great opportunity to enjoy afternoons at the resort pool or to visit a water park. Our family also loves the summer as we can take advantage of the late hours at the parks. Each park has a different ambiance after the sun has set and the lights are on. In fact, Animal Kingdom at night is my absolute favorite!

Being an impatient person I'd probably go for the March vacation since it is the closest! However, I really don't think you can go wrong!
