My daughter is 2 years old and just got stitches under her chin. The plastic surgeon said they need to be removed in 10-11 days.We leave on the Disney Magic 4/4-4/7, then Saratoga Springs 4/7-4/11.Can we get them removed on the ship or somewhere in Disney?

Welcome aboard, Jeffrey! I'm sorry to hear that your daughter had to get stitches. Ouch! My son got stitches in his chin last year and that wasn't fun at all. Luckily for you, your family has this exciting vacation to look forward to, which hopefully will take your daughter's mind off of those pesky stitches in her chin!

I checked with my friends at Disney Cruise Line to find out if the medical center onboard is able to take her stitches out while you're sailing. The good news is that yes, they can do that! We had an unexpected visit to the ship's medical center last fall when my son came down with a double ear infection, so I can tell you from personal experience that the onboard medical center is great! The doctor who treated my son was absolutely wonderful. I'm sure it will be a good experience for your family too. Plus, it helps that there are fun Mickey and Minnie doctor and nurse decorations on the wall! That little touch of Disney magic, even in the doctor's office!

I found out that there will be a charge of $30 to remove your daughter's stitches. If there are extenuating circumstances that require a more in depth visit, the doctor's fee may be added, but it sounds like it is just the standard suture removal, so that should be easy.

The medical center does not accept insurance, so the charge will be put on your stateroom account. But they are happy to provide you with the necessary documentation for your daughter's visit so that you can submit it to your insurance company when you get home. This is what we did with my son's ear infection visit and it was pretty easy to submit it for reimbursement to our insurance back home.

Have a wonderful cruise this weekend, Jeffrey! Enjoy your trip!
