My daughter and I watched a History Channel DVD that showed "Lucky the Dinosaur" and now he is all she can talk about! Is there any way of knowing if Lucky will be in the Animal Kingdom during our visit in June?

Thanks for writing us, Jill!  Great question!

Our family also loves to watch shows with WDW content on the Travel Channel, the History Channel, etc..  Unfortunately some of the shows are older and can have some outdated information.   Unfortunately that is the case with "Lucky the Dinosaur."  "Lucky" did make appearances at the Animal Kingdom for a while, but he only makes very rare appearances these days.  In fact, the last appearance of "Lucky" that I recall was at the D23 Expo in California last year.

In case you are interested, "Lucky" is one of several characters that the Disney Imagineers have developed through a program they call "The Living Character Initiative."  This initiative has created many different independent animatronic characters over time, including a Dolphin (Google "New kind of animal-tronic" for more info), WALL-E, Lucky, and most recently, Remy at Les Chefs de France.  Although Remy has been around for a while now, many of these characters make relatively rare appearances, probably due to their complexity and perhaps due to some concerns for visitor safety -- I mean, would you want to be run over by WALL-E?  :-(

So, is it possible that you'll see "Lucky"?  Not likely, but perhaps you'll get lucky! ;-)
