My daughter is taking a class trip without her parents. As annual pass holders, what documentation does she need, to use her pass to get discounts on shopping? Does she need an ID? Will high school ID work or does it need to be state issued?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Kevin!

    Oh, Kevin!

I love this question. I took a trip to Walt Disney World Resort with my Show Choir in High School, and those memories with my friends are some that I will always cherish! I am thrilled that your daughter is going to get a similar experience.

Now as you know, your daughter will need to have her yellow Annual Passholder card with her to receive any discounts. Generally, the Passholder is asked for a corresponding ID. In this case, since your daughter seems like she does not have a driver's license, her school ID should suffice as long as it has her photo on it. The regulations state a "Valid ID" is required but it does not stipulate that the ID must be government-issued. I spoke with a few Cast Members who agreed with my assessment; however, they did caution that the discretion is up to the individual Cast Member at the point of purchase.

Note that this form of ID is sufficient for discounts for an existing Annual Passholder, but is not sufficient to renew an Annual Pass or establish FL residency.

Don't forget to remind your daughter to get lots of PhotoPass Photos with her friends! They will go right on your My Disney Experience Account so you can download them and have some very special "Instagram-worthy" souvenirs by the time she returns home.

I hope that this answered your question, Kevin!

Please come back here if you have any other questions about your daughter's upcoming parent-free trip!
