My daughter and I are all ready to set sail the first week of October on our first Disney cruise. What is the probability to upgrade (either by purchase or complimentary) if the ship is well below capacity?

    Ahoy Jenelle!
I know you and your princess are looking forward to a wondrous voyage for your first cruise experience! Memories make the best gifts so I hope your sailing is filled with magical moments that you will cherish always!
Complimentary upgrades are sometimes given to Guests who book a guaranteed (GTY) stateroom.  Disney allows Guests to book guaranteed rooms in a particular category and then chooses the room location for them.  Occasionally, DCL will bump these Guests to another category to open up more rooms.  But, overall it is very hard to predict if a complimentary upgrade is possible.  I always think a sprinkling of pixie dust has a lot to do with an upgrade!
When you arrive at the port, you can always inquire about purchasing an upgrade if one is available. If there aren't any available, there will be a sign placed on the counter stating the ship is sailing full.
Thanks so much for visiting the Moms Panel, Jenelle! If you think of anything else, you know where to find me!
    Have a magical day!
