Daughter is about 38 pounds and will probably be at least 40 by the time we go (May 2009). We'd like to take an umbrella stroller instead of rent one. Not sure if she's too big for one. Any suggestions, answers or advice?

I think that bringing your own stroller to WDW is a great idea. You will be able to use it at the resorts as well as the parks and you will have substantial savings over renting.

Almost every umbrella stroller I've had over the years had a suggested weight limit of 40 pounds. And I'm sure I pushed my kids around well past that limit. I know we had the twins in umbrella strollers at WDW when they were nearly five and a half. My back still isn't the same :-)

I think for just a vacation, your daughter would be fine in most umbrella strollers. If you don't have this type of stroller, I'd suggest going to a Target or Walmart type store. I have occasionally seen umbrella stroller sold in these big-box store for under $25. They're not the sturdiest, but they will likely last through your trip just fine.
