Welcome aboard, Tara! Congratulations on your first sailing with Disney Cruise Line! It sounds like you'll be on the Disney Dream with ports of call in Nassau and Castaway Cay. It's always fun to experience the culture of each port and get a taste for the island. However, no one is required to leave the ship. In fact, there will still be plenty of activities and entertainment going on back onboard for guests who leave for only part of the day or stay onboard all day. In
Nassau, since my family and I have been there many times, we have had cruises when we've stayed onboard all day to take advantage of the less crowded pool deck.
AquaDuck rides over and over with no wait, anyone? Yes please!
If you do get off the ship in Nassau, I recommend one of
Disney's exciting Port Adventures. There are plenty to choose from in Nassau, but two of my favorites are Blue Lagoon Island or the Atlantis Resort. If you're not up for a Port Adventure, you're welcome to leave the ship on your own to explore in town just outside the port area. There are streets of shops and a straw market with vendors, and fun little restaurants to taste the flavors of the Bahamas. It's not a long walk at all!
Castaway Cay is the place to leave the ship for the whole day to enjoy everything that's included on the island! We spend all day on Disney's private island each time we visit and can't cram in enough fun, there's so much to do! Pelican Plunge water slides, Scuttle's Cove Youth Club for ages three to 12, Character Dance Parties, a family whale dig at Monstro Point, lots of beach time, and so much more!
Have so much fun, Tara!
