My daughter has money that she would like to spend on our Disney Cruise. However, I heard that the boats are cashless. Can she bring cash to spend at the stores? If not, what are some suggestions for her?

Welcome aboard, Kristin! It's almost time to set sail on your magical cruise with Captain Mickey and his friends! I can only imagine that your family is beyond excited at this point! You have so much magic in store!

Disney Cruise Line's ships do operate on a cashless basis as all guests will use their own Key To The World Cards to charge any extras to their stateroom accounts. The only cash you may need is for tips for Port Adventure guides or for tips for the Cast Members that deliver any Room Service orders you may place onboard. We usually tip a few dollars in cash when our Room Service is delivered. Other than that, you won't need any cash unless you want to purchase souvenirs in the ports. The gift shops onboard do accept Disney Gift Cards though, which is a nice way to let your kids have their own spending money within a certain budget. When my kids have money they want to spend, we pick up Disney Gift Cards at home and bring them along. The kids know how much they can spend onboard and once it's gone, it's gone!

Additionally, any other Disney Gift Cards you have can be taken to Guest Services to add as credits to your stateroom account so you can put them toward other things like Port Adventures or specialty drinks onboard. I hope those details help as you get ready to head out to sea, Kristin! Have an amazing cruise!
