    My daughter is 21 in January 2013 but getting holidays off together was difficult (party of 6) and the only time we could get is September. We have booked a surprise holiday to WDW in September. Will we still be able to celebrate her birthday in September?

    I bring my daughters (4 and 6) to Walt Disney World every October, more or less. But their 'official' birthdays are in mid-November. We can't be gone from home during that time, so we celebrate their birthdays on our trips.

    When we check in to our resort we get their birthday celebration buttons. I will tell the staff that their birthdays are not until November, and the response is often, "Not any more!"

    I don't think of it as disingenuous.  We are not looking for freebies. Our kids simply know that the vacation is their birthday present. They expect to celebrate, and the Cast Members at Disney help us do that.

    BOTTOM LINE: Your daughter now turns 21 in September (except of course, when it comes to the consumption of adult beverages!)!

    So let her and the rest of the family know that this is her birthday celebration. Treat it as if you were mid-January. Don't be shy, and don't skip anything you would not otherwise do!
