My daughter is 14 and so excited about our trip to aoa in oct.She is wheelchair bound and a little nervous about going in the pools .She normally uses a tube to swim .is there a place to buy one on the property or should I bring ours from home?

    Hi, Dawn!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm so happy to hear that your daughter is getting excited about your family's upcoming visit in October! She is going to love staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort! The Landscape of Flavors food court is outstanding and the resort pools are amazing, not to mention the incredible larger-than-life theming!

I would recommend that, for convenience sake, you bring along your swim tube from home. Also, since your daughter is already familiar with the tube she uses at home, this may help make her feel more comfortable and a bit less nervous about enjoying The Big Blue Pool or the other two resort pools. My family recently stayed at Art of Animation and because my husband uses a manual wheelchair for mobility, I'm very familiar with the pool accessibility at this resort. The great thing about Art of Animation is that The Big Blue Pool features zero-entry access (which is something not found at the other Value Resorts).

There is a specially designed water wheelchair available for complimentary guest use in the pool, so you may want to inquire about this with one of the Recreation Cast Members on site. The poolside restrooms/dressing rooms feature a handicapped shower stall equipped with a fold-down bench seat, sliding handheld shower and grab bars. Youth life vests are also available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wishing you a magical vacation! Please let me know if I can answer any other questions about mobility accessibility at Walt Disney World Resort or assist your further with any aspect of your trip planning.
