My daughter and I are going to Disney World in January (MLK weekend) for her 16th birthday and, of course, she wants it to be absolutely perfect. I was just wondering, is that a pretty good time to go? In 3 days she wants to ride all her faves. Thanks!

Sweet 16! Sounds like she deserves perfect to me.

I have been at WDW during the past two MLK weekends. (I just made my reservations for my third annual MLK weekend solo trip to WDW!) While this is a holiday weekend, I think you'll be fine as far as crowd levels go. When I was there that weekend in 2006, the weather was amazing -- clear and sunny and 70s. There were lines for the rides, but they were manageable. In 2007, the weather was not so amazing -- 50s and drizzly. This must have kept the locals away because the parks were empty. I actually called my husband from the middle of the World Showcase at Epcot, marveling that it was the fewest people I had ever seen the park. So, if the past two years are any indication, you're likely to experience moderate to light crowd levels over MLK weekend.

Happy birthday to your daughter ... and be sure to stop and say "hi" if you see me in the parks.
